In preparation for Christmas festivities, i'm making a head piece from the pom poms I've made using the @larainemaecreative O.G DIY Christmas Decoration Kit!

Of course you can use any pom pom kit or any colours you prefer, But in my favorable opinion behind suggest something colorful and fun.

Once you have your pom poms made you can start on your headpiece.

What you will need:

  • Pom Poms! I made 4 medium and 2 small sized poms.

  • A headband that you don't use anymore or that needs a make over. You'll easily find one at the local op shop or you can strip one that you have lying around

  • Fabric glue and a glue gun - I used 1.5 sticks of glue for the hot glue gun

  • A paintbrush to apply the glue - could also use your finger?

  • Gold Christmas ribbon or actual ribbon in a complimentary colour

  • Scissors

Get your ribbon or gold ready to wrap your band.

Use a brush (or your finger?) to paint on the glue to the ends and place a small piece

Wrap the ribbon around the band on an angle making sure the wrap covers the last one as to hold it all in place.

If your headband is already a colour you like you can skip this step.

Once your band is ready leave it aside to dry (I didn't / couldn't ) and we can get started attaching our pom poms. Obviously you can put as many as you like in whatever style you like. I loved the idea of ears, but I will recommend being cautious when going higher than 2 pom poms tall. Your structure will need to be very stable to be sturdy long term.

Use your glue gun to glue the pom poms in place.

Don't be stingy with the glue, make sure to glue all the way along the pom pom and hold it in place firmly until It dries.

Once your poms are in place and you're confident in their ability to hold, its time for flourish (my favorite).

I dug into my ribbon bag and made some small bows from matching ribbon I had.

I made sure to place them before I glued, to make sure of where I wanted them. Placing them down by the band will mean they won't be as visible as the others as they tend to get lost in the hairline.

Here's the final piece and I'm in love 💕

Time to find a matching outfit and somewhere to go!

See my Instagram for a reel on making this, if you would like a visual aid with your DIY project, and don't forget to share with me if you make yours!
