DIY Pom-pom Waterfall Keyring

Pom Pom Key Chain Tutorial

Key chains are a fun way to add a personal touch to your keys or bag. In this tutorial, we will show you how to make a cute pom pom key chain in just a few simple steps.

What you'll need:

  • Pom-poms of your colour, choice, amount

  • Key chain ring

  • Scissors

  • Darning (big) needle

  • Glue (i used fabric glue)

  • Extra wool strands (about 30cms long)

Step 1: Attach the Key Chain Ring

  1. Thread a few pieces of yarn through the key chain ring. How many depends on how many pom-poms you want to attach. For example if you want to attach 6 pom-poms you'll need 3 strands of wool.

  2. Plait the wool for a few centimetres to secure it to the key ring, then wrap some wool around the bottom of the plait and secure it in place with some glue.

Step 2:

  1. Once glue is dry, we can start attaching the pom-poms. Choose one of the strands of wool attached to the keychain, and thread it through the needle. this can be tough considering the thickness of the wool strand - but make sure to trim the end and press it down in between your fingers to make it as flat as possible.

  2. Carefully open the pom-pom to find the string holding it together. Thread the needle under and through the string to secure it to the pom-pom.

  3. Tie in a double knot and glue in place.

  4. Continue with the rest of the pom-poms in the position you like.

Step 3: Finishing Touches

  1. Fluff up the pom-poms and trim any stray strands to make it look neat.

  2. I added a tassel to the end of mine, and glued it in place, to ensure it is very secure.

There you have it! A simple and adorable pom pom key chain that you can make in no time. Get creative with different yarn colors and sizes to make a variety of key chains to suit your style.
