DIY Bow Attachment

Let's learn how to make a super cute bow step by step. This bow can glow-up all sorts of stuff - from your shoes to your bag to your hair! It's super easy to do, and you can customize it to fit your style. So, if you're keen on adding a personal touch to your accessories or clothes, this DIY project is perfect for you. Just follow the simple steps below to let your creativity shine and give your fashion pieces a unique twist!

What you will need for this project:

  • Heels

  • 80cm x 40cms of matching or contrasting fabric

  • Stuffing - I use eucalyptus fibre filling

  • 2 pom-poms

  • Glue gun or superglue

  • Pins

  • Scissors

  • Thread

  • Sewing machine or needle

  • A brooch attachment or some way to attach it to the shoe (ideally the back of a clip on earring.

Step 1

Make up your bow pattern, which is a 17cm x 9cm rectangle. Of course you can just cut the fabric directly, but I always make the pattern so I can file it away in case I want to make this again.

You can make the pattern smaller or larger to fit your shoe style. Changing the size will not change the following Instructions at all.

Step 2

Place the fabric right sides together and sew all around the rectangle (.75cm hem), leaving a 1 inch gap on one side.

Step 3

Cut the corners off which will create better points.

Turn the bow right side out by pulling it through the opening.

I gently use a chopstick to push out the edges from the inside.

Step 4

Stuff each side of the bow with filling, keeping the left and right sides separate. To do this i Pin down the middle to keep the stuffing in place.

Step 5

Pin the opening closed and sew it shut. Then sew down the middle of the bow.

Step 6

Twist the bow and pin in place. Sew down the middle of the bow.

Step 7

Glue the pom-poms in place with a glue gun or super glue.

Step 8

Turn the bows over and glue the attachments in place. Wait to cool and attach to shoes!

If you make one i'd love to see how it looks and the personal touch you gave it!
